Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
For answers to your questions, please read below.

When are the meetings?
Meetings are held the first Saturday evening of every month, at 6:30pm.

Where are the meetings?

April thru October meetings are held at the saddle club grounds in Nelsonville.
November thru March meetings are held at the Philadelphia Community Center. (This may be subject to change)

What does the Tri -County Buffalo Rangers do?
We're a group of folks from Missouri and Illinois who enjoy horses, camping and family activities.
We have members only camp outs at the saddle club grounds,
Open to the public camp outs twice per year (August and October)>
We have children's activities at public rides, and team sorting which is also open to the public.

Equine and rider requirements?
All horses entering the property will be asked to provide proof of negative Coggins.

All people  ( riders or observers) entering the property will be required to sign a release of liability. Parents will sign liability release for any children under age 18.

The Tri- County Buffalo Rangers club members or grounds, are NOT responsible for any accident, injury or theft.
This holds true while on club grounds, or surrounding areas..

I don't have a horse, would I be welcome?
Horse ownership isn't required, but a love of horses is. We're very proud of our horses, most are close as family.
Since horses love attention, your participation is very welcome. Just be prepared to do alot of scratching!

I don't have a camper, can I still come?

Of course you can. Tents are welcome, or if you have an adventurous spirit, sleep under the stars.

What is the admission fee for a weekend?
Admission for children 5 and under is free.
INon member admission is $10 per person.

What is primitive camping?

Our campsites are set up for basic electric hookups. They are on a first come/first serve basis.
Cost for electric in 2010 is $20 for the weekend.

Primitive camping also includes "outhouses". No showers are available.

Are there corrals for my horse?
No, there are no corrals available. You're welcome to bring your own panels to set up, use a tie line in certain areas,
or tie to your trailer. Some campers have also used hotwire "mini" corrals.

Can I reserve a campsite?
In 2008, the membership decided to allow members to reserve their campsites on a yearly basis.
This reservation will guarantee the same spot throughout the year for that member.
Members who do not have a reservation, are allowed first choice for the remaining available sites, with "stake out"
time starting on Sunday prior to any open camping.
Non members are not allowed to stake out prior to Thursday at 3pm,  during the event week. Remaining campsites are first come/
first serve basis.

Is food available?
The August and October public rides  have the cook shack available. Plate dinners and sandwiches etc
are available for purchase. A menu will be given to you at the entrance, when you pay your admission fee.

The Cook Shack will also be open for the team sorting events.

Are camp fires allowed?
Under normal conditions, camp fires are allowed, within fire rings. Please note that the club does reserve the right
to prohibit open fires at any time, especially during drought conditions.

I have a dog, can he come too?
All animals will be leashed at all times. Please be respectful of your neighbors, a dog who barks constantly when left
behind will be disruptive to the campers.

What does it cost to be a member?
Single membership cost is $5
Family membership cost is $10 (which includes spouses and children) Any additional adult in the household
will be considered an additional single membership
Memberships paid after May 31st,  will double in cost.

What is expected of a member?

At the time you become a member, you will be asked to join on a committee of your choice. (see Committee page)
Our club will only thrive if we have "active" members, who are willing to commit to the club and be involved.
Our current members are dedicated to seeing this club grow. We hope you will also commit to that goal.

How do I join?
Welcome!
You're welcome to join at a meeting,  talk to an officer and make your desire known,
or mail /email your information (name, email, address, phone and committee selection) to the secretary or treasurer.
We'll immediately put you on the mail/email notification list...
